What is Direct Hair transplantation (DHI)?
The procedure of DHI hair transplant takes place in two phases – extraction and implantation. First, the surgeon harvests the grafts from a donor area using a specialized precision tool known as the Choi Implanter Pen. Then, the surgeon transplants and presses hair follicles very precisely one by one on the bald areas using the Choi Pen.
The Choi Pen features a special tip design and a hollow barrel for fine hair insertion. This unique method allows the hair follicles to grow naturally without falling off. So, you will get long-lasting, natural-looking hair.

The Procedure

Step 1:
The surgeon will shave the area of your head which will receive the transplant. Then, we apply local anaesthesia to numb the area.
Step 2:
Using a special precision tool with a fine tip, the surgeon will extract hair follicles from the back of your scalp.
Step 3:
Healthy hair follicles will be loaded into the Choi pen and directly implanted into the targeted area of your scalp.
Step 4:
Once this is complete, the surgeon applies an antibiotic cream and bandages to the treated areas.

Preparing For DHI Hair Transplant in Turkey

One month prior to the hair transplant

Two weeks before the procedure
- Quit smoking and alcohol as these substances can cause post-surgery risk and delay recovery.

- Do not take painkillers that do not include paracetamol.
One week before the surgery
- Stop Vitamin B and E tablets if you are taking any. These tablets can make it difficult to heal faster.

The day of your procedure
- Wash and clean your scalp properly.
- Avoid any hair styling products like hair gel, mousse, or hairspray.

DHI Hair Transplant Recovery
DHI is preferred for faster recovery. However, recovery time varies from person to person, and it generally takes about 5 to 7 days to recover fully. During this time, you can expect some swelling, redness, and discomfort in the treated area.
It is important to follow aftercare instructions set out by your surgeon:
- Sleep at a 45-degree angle to prevent swelling in the treated area.
- Wash your hair as directed by your clinician. Pat dry your wet hair with a clean, soft towel. Do not apply pressure and avoid using a hairdryer.
- You will notice scabbing on your scalp around your transplanted area. This should go away within 15 days. Otherwise, get in touch with us if they persist following this timeframe.
- Protect your hair from direct sunlight, seawater and pool water for the first 2 to 4 weeks.
- If you are prescribed any medicines following your procedure by your surgeon, ensure these are taken on time and as prescribed.
